Coworkers often bring stuff to sell for their kids' school's fundraising efforts, or girl scout cookie order forms. Usually they just tack them to their doors or leave things on a chair outside of the office, for anyone who wants to partake. No hard sell, here.
Today though, a genuine Girl Scout, maybe 7 or 8 years old, walked into my office with an order form. I wasn't expecting that. I'm not even sure whose she was.
When I was a scout, I HATED selling cookies. Going up to people's doors and trying to get them to buy something was a nightmare for me. I had to talk to people. Strangers, even. I bet walking door to door in my parent's office building would have been slightly easier, but, only slightly. I always buy a few boxes because I remember how hard it was to actually ask people. I'm sure not all girls find it as hard as I did, but just in case, I want to reward them for their bravery.
